Here's what the Samsung Galaxy S8 will cost you in Australia

So perhaps you've already been entranced by the bevelled edges of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and marvelled at its inclusion of a headphone jack — among other things.

The phone's release is a big test for Samsung, marking its first phone release since the infamous Note 7 explosion which ended in the line's demise.

In Australia, the Galaxy S8 with a 5.8-inch screen has an outright price of $1,199, while the Galaxy S8+ with its 6.2-inch screen will cost $1,349.

Australians will be able to buy the phone in three colours: Midnight Black, Orchid Grey and Maple Gold.

Both models come with 64GB of onboard storage, with a microSD slot. For comparison, an iPhone 7 with the same amount of storage will cost you $1,229, where as the 7 Plus equivalent is $1,419.

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ will go on sale in the country on Apr. 28, and are available on plans from Telstra, Optus, Virgin and Vodafone. But if you're one for anticipation, pre-orders open on Mar. 31, closing on Apr. 27.

Tesla's Gigafactory, a gleaming white structure amid the muted browns surrounding Reno, Nevada, seems to be coming along, according to photos snapped by NM Group, a company that describes itself as specializing in "surveying and mapping, asset modeling and management, and engineering." The group was recently mapping the area for potential power lines on behalf of an electricity company, according to Tim Hustwayte, a senior client manager based in the United Kingdom. The route took them close to the Gigafactory, and they got some shots that appear to show the factory having bulked up since Tesla's battery cell began rolling off production lines at the start of the year. The Gigafactory employed nearly 3,000 people at the start of the year, less than half of how many people are expected to be employed there...

Samsung's Galaxy S8 has a killer feature that nobody's talking about

Samsung's Galaxy S8 is packed full of awesome new features like the new larger screen, face recognition and Bixby AI assistant. But there's one pretty killer feature on the phone Samsung didn't bother to mention at its Unpacked event on Wednesday. That feature: a built-in GIF maker. It's not like the Smart Select GIF maker that first appeared on the Galaxy Note 7 and later trickled to Samsung's Galaxy Tab A and Galaxy Tab S3. It's even better. Located within the Gallery app's video section is a little GIF-creation tool that lets you convert a section of any video (even ones you record) into an animated GIF. Unlike the the Smart Select feature on the Note 7, you don't need to manually select a specific area on the screen to capture. Just open up a video within the Gallery app, tap on the GIF icon, and then move the slider along the bottom to select the section of the video you want to convert into a GIF — and that's it!...
